Laura’s Primary Bedroom: The Finished Space
In Part One, I shared the inspiration behind my primary bedroom and my vision for transforming what had been an all-white space into something with more color, warmth, and personality. Now, I’m excited to share how it all came together.
The Cailini Coastal Kenilworth Chintz Dawn wallpaper was the starting point for the entire room. I loved its soft blue palette and traditional pattern, it gave me that classic New England feel I wanted while still feeling fresh and coastal.
From there, it was all about the layers. New bedding, end tables, hardware, lighting, and accessories brought warmth and dimension to the room. For the windows, we designed custom seersucker treatments with a beaded tape trim, adding a tailored detail and another subtle layer of pattern. We also installed natural blackout shades, giving us the privacy and light control we needed while adding beautiful texture and warmth.
I wanted the finished space to feel coastal without being beachy and traditional without feeling formal—a room that feels light and fresh in the summer but equally cozy during a New England winter.
More than anything, I wanted it to feel personal. With my lifelong connection to Cape Cod, bringing those soft coastal influences into my own home feels like having a little piece of the Cape with me year-round.
