2026 Trends We Are Loving
2026 Trends
As we look ahead to 2026, one thing is very clear: the days of overly restrained, limited color palettes are behind us…and honestly, thank the Lord. Design feels fun again…expressive…personal…and don’t even get us started on the “color of the year!”.
One of the biggest shifts we’re loving is the return of layered patterns—done in a thoughtful, collected way. Think European influence with a modern twist: small-scale prints, pinstripes paired with bold florals, and gathered lampshades that feel charming but fresh. Granny chic energy, but updated. You don’t need to overhaul your whole home to embrace this…swap a lampshade, add a pillow, or introduce a playful trim. Small changes can make a big impact.
Another trend we’re fully embracing is the mix of traditional wood furniture with more current finishes. A great example is a dresser with classic lines and timeless hardware, but in a finish that feels fresh and modern—like this one from Crate & Barrel Kids. We’ve used it in foyers and bedrooms alike, and it works beautifully every time. The same idea applies when you pair a traditional piece—say, this Ballard Design table—with a coastal side chair from Serena & Lily . That contrast is where the magic happens.
Vintage rugs are also having a major moment again. We’ve been scouring high and low for unique, off-size pieces that feel special and storied. Whether it’s a true vintage find from Etsy or a standout option from Rejuvenation, a rug like this brings instant character and warmth to a space.
Not everyone dreams about pattern play the way we do—and that’s okay. Even the most neutral palette can handle a touch of color or an unexpected detail. Design should feel like getting dressed: some days you want to be preppy, other days a little edgy. Your home should have that same freedom. There are no rules.
We’re also seeing burl wood everywhere, and we are not mad about it. The texture and depth of burl works beautifully in modern traditional spaces and even coastal homes, adding richness without feeling heavy. We are in love with this one from Arhaus for a more coastal vibe or this showstopper from Society Social for a space that leans more traditional. If committing to a larger piece feels like too much, start small—a decorative box or tray is an easy way to experiment without pressure.
Another detail we can’t get enough of? Trims, fringes, and contrasting welts. These custom touches elevate even the simplest pieces and make a space feel layered and intentional. We love how these pillows incorporate fringe and pom poms—it’s thoughtful, playful, and so Main Street Home.
Of course, it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t talk about fashion, too. Baggy jeans are everywhere right now—not for everyone, but when the silhouette and drape are right, they work. Some of our favorites are these from Free People and this style from Mother. We’re also seeing classic Penny Loafers and boat shoes everywhere, especially cozy, fleece-lined versions like these Larroude that feel like slippers you can wear outside. And you truly can’t go wrong with a classic Sperry boat shoe—we’re determined to bring them back.
At the end of the day, design—both in your home and in what you wear—should be fun. Take risks. Don’t take it too seriously. Life is serious enough as it is. Have fun with yourself, and have fun with design.
